Witez Black Arabians in 1998 had only two foals. A 3/4 Arabian black colt out of our IAHA black tobiano mare, she had the same last year, only it was a black filly. Both are very nice, both look just like purebreds.
We have not bred Fancy back for 1999, we had Fancy trained under saddle in MT this summer. Traded her colt, for the training on his dam.
We are cutting down on our broodmares, we have retained a black filly from each of our black mares, five. So we must make room for the up and coming young black mares. We sent Tasha, our 1980 black Nitez granddaughter and sold her 1998 black daughter Trisha, our other 1998 foal this year, this November to a lady in NE. Jana tells us, how much she loves those two horses. We had retained Trisha's full 1997 black sister, Trixi. We are also receiving back Tasha's 1999 foal due in the summer, by a black grandson of our blue black foundation stallion, El Nigadin.
We leased Lady Briquette, our 1982 black Niga granddaughter to a couple in MT, we get her first black colt and first black filly back; they return Lady each year to be bred to El Nigadin. We have had to make some deals like this, this year to sell or reduce our herd, we had a drought this summer. Things have straightened out now.
In 1997 we had four foals. Two black fillies and two liver colts. Sold them all, but the purebred black filly, Trixi, who we had retained. Trixi was originally sold to a man in Texas. But last December 1997, he developed severe heart and lung problems, so he couldn't go through with the deal. He had bought horses from us twice before. He was riding and showing, Cutting horses. He was now 75 years old, but he was fine, or so he thought, until this all happened at once. They could not operate, his heart was to weak.
We hope to have five foals in the spring and summer, that would be including our leased mare in MT, if she has a black foal. And the mare we have in NE. We have another mare for sale also. So if she would sell with her 1999 foal, there would be one less.
Genesis Kohli has not had a foal since 1996. We have retained that black filly. Klassi is by a black son of El Nigadin, Ladin Witez BA, who is out of Lady Briquette. Ladin has his own broodmare band in Glendive, MT now. Kohli is in foal again, due June 17, this time by Ladin's sire, our blue black foundation stallion, El Nigadin; we are hoping to retain another black filly from Kohli for ourselves. Kohli is the dam of a black Champion Cutting horse in Colorado, who is by El Nigadin. Kohli's 1999 foal will be a full sibling to LR Kailai Witez.
We bred seven mares to El Nigadin this year, including the outside mares. We are now limiting his breedings, due to his age. El Nigadin has had 69 foals as of 1998. Of that number 27 have been black, out of mares of various colors. There have been 37 fillies and 32 colts.
Our young black fillies, future broodmares for Witez Black Arabians, are on the Next Generation page of our website. Also our prospective future herd sire, Serya DJ Witez. DJ is a solid black roan 29.7% *Witez II Preservation Arabian stallion. DJ has seven lines to *Witez II in his first six generations of his pedigree. His lineage is 36% Polish blood, which includes Nitez twice, Yatez twice, Hirzan twice and Casino. DJ is pure in strain Seglawi Jedran.
