DROUGHT CONTINUES INTO 2006:
With almost no snow over the Winter and very little rain in the Spring. It was looking like it was going to be another drought year ahead. So we ordered a semi load of 48 - 900 lb big square 2005 grass hay bales from just east of Bismarck. We had enough hay until the next February, but figured we would buy some good hay then, so we didn't need to worry about it later. That turned out to be a very good idea, for we had very little rain in 2006 and it was another 8th year of drought.
NEW FOALS --
KHASOUF WITEZ BA 625660, a solid black colt foaled early afternoon, April 23rd. KHASOUF means ECLIPSE in ARABIC. KHAS has 25 lines to OFIR, who is the renown sire of *Witez II.

DAM: KLASSI WITEZ BA 532725, black 15.6% *WITEZ II out of a black G AMIGO granddaughter, her dam a *WITEZ II granddaughter.MALANOMEGA WITEZ BA 626569, a black colt with faint star and right rear sock foaled just before midnight, April 26th. Malan means clad in black and omega means last. This is Eclipse's ninth and final foal. MALAN has 26 lines to OFIR, who is the renown sire of *Witez II.

Their sire, Eclipse has such a wonderful disposition, a very SPECIAL horse.
ANGYL WITEZ BA, A homozygous solid black filly foaled June 12, 2006, via lease contract with Finn and Dana Pedersen. ANGYL was sadly orphaned and was raised as an orphan by Finn and Dana Pedersen and did very well.. A 28.1%*WITEZ II Preservation filly with12 lines. This filly is owned by WITEZ BLACK ARABIANS.

We were going to get Maggie trained to ride. But we decided if we were going to breed any mare, we should breed Maggie, because her colt by Eclipse is so nice. SAD NEWS:
SERYA GLORY BE passed away--
SERYA GLORY BE was "On Lease" to Finn and Dana Pedersen, to better enhance both of our breeding programs with GLORY's unique pedigree. GLORY produced two homozgous solid black fillies. GLORY's last foal, SOLOANGYL WITEZ BA, is a homozygous solid black filly foaled June 12, 2006 by 28.1% *WITEZ II PRESERVATION black stallion, HA SIRIBN WITEZ. Sadly GLORY passed away the next morning, June 13th, 2006.Received word that MY HAL AMIGA 276646 passed away--
(March 17, 1983 - Nov. 11, 2006). Amiga was a 15.1 hand purebred black Arabian mare, she sadly passed away at her new owners' home in Arlington, Washington. Amiga was a beautiful true black HAL GIBBY daughter. This mare had correct conformation and quiet disposition. Amiga raised four fillies and three colts for us. Her dam was a G AMIGO daughter. HAL GIBBY was US and Canadian Top Ten Halter and Western Pleasure AOTR and Canadian Reserve National Western Pleasure AOTR.
Her pedigree: double NIGA with three lines to *WITEZ II. AMIGA pass away due to natural causes November 11, 2006. AMIGA spent the last seven years of her life with Joy and Jana Richwine. Even though AMIGA never had a live foal for them, Jana wrote: "I want to thank you for the years you gave us with this wonderful sweet mare. AMIGA will be missed."

Liz Masters in Southern CA, who has Elana's sire, Eclipse and her 2004 liver full sister, Edina decided to purchase Elana. Elana left in June to go live with Liz.KHASOUF WITEZ BA was sold --
Liz is also purchased Klassi's colt, Khas by Eclipse, to be shipped later. We were not planning on selling Khas, but since Liz purchased Elana, we will let her purchase Klassi's colt also. She is purchasing him as a gelding, but not gelding him until he is two. At that time, they will decide if he is a stallion prospect for them and or a future Endurance gelding. Liz decided to purchase Klassi along with her colt, Khas by Eclipse, whom she was already purchasing. Liz could ship Klassi and Khas as long as he wasn't weaned for the same fee as Khas by himself, since at his age they required a box stall to have him shipped. We hope this will prove to be an excellent cross. Maggie's colt, Malan out of Eclipse is very nice. Maggie is Sir's first foal. DJANA will replace SERYA GLORY BE in Finn and Dana's breeding program.
TRAIL RIDING:
In December we went to the Bismarck Horse Club Fall Awards dinner and meeting. We had no idea that Lyle and I had won the 2006 Trail Riders of the year awards. We both received very nice saddle blankets, one blue stripe and one red stripe. Each with a leather patch in the corner saying: 2006 BHC Trail Riders. We had both won belt buckles in 1987 for attending all the trail rides that year. So that was nice of them. There were thirteen rides this Summer in all. Lyle and I had attended the most, 10 of them.
SALES LIST
We were cutting back on the number of our horses, due to severe drought year after year in our area! Now we have another real problem, MOUNTAIN LIONS! The younger horses are the ones most bothered by their presence. So we have to make sure we have enough barn space for all. Another reason we need to cut back on the number of our horses.
