TRAIL RIDING:
August 5th, we got back home at 3:30 AM with DJANA's yearling son, JAZI from Meeker, CO. We came home through the Rocky Mountain State Park West of Denver. High 90s down below, but up on top in the Mts at around 14,000 ft it was very cold in the 30s, snowing and windy!!! We had drove 900 miles and 19 hours in one day, one way on the way home.
Sept 10th through the 14th, we were gone trail riding at the Medora Roundup Horse Camp in the Badlands of Western ND with two of our horses and ten friends with their seven horses from ND & MN. We took my trusted riding mare, BHR HOSAN'S FANCY FACE our 1993 Black Tobiano Half Arabian. And my husband's 2000 Purebred Black riding gelding, DANZEL WITEZ BA. We were DANZEL's breeders and were able to acquire him back in July 2007. Danzel was a stallion until he was five and then gelded. We had two months of training put on DANZEL in 2007 before bringing him home.
In 2008 DANZEL is doing so much better. DANZEL still is very herd bound, but he isn't scared of everything that moves any more. DANZEL is also getting used to riding in a group of horses. Though he still prefers to be up front and not to have horses go out ahead of him. DANZEL is learning and improving all the time.
Naturally we always see lots of Buffalo on our rides and in our Camp! First ride out we saw lots of elk. Nearly every ride out, we saw the wild horses.
HORSE WHO WENT TO NEW HOMES
GOLDIN DIN WITEZ BA:
In March, GOLDIN DIN WITEZ BA was shipped to her new home. Nancy wrote about herself and GOLDIN: "We have acquired a Witez mare, GOLDIN DIN WITEZ BA in February and are enjoying her very much. I grew up in Calif. with a grandson of WITEZ through KHALAWI's line and was thrilled to know WITEZ blood was still important in America.
We have been serving in foreign missions since 1990 and are now on home assignment, doing Stateside work with our churches in the Midwest. Our backyard is a 20 acre parcel ( 15 mi. north of Lansing, Michigan) being put into mixed grasses and alfalfa for horse pasture and hay. We were able to acquire GOLDIN because of family members helping us out. Our budget for my horse passion is extremely limited, but the 20 acres here is just perfect for lots of equestrian fun. Our income is quite limited this year, moving back from South Africa."In June, they were also able to offer a new home for LATTE WITEZ BA. A lovely 1999 blue black Purebred mare sired by our late blue black EL NIGADIN. One of his last daughters. Out of our late black NIGA granddaughter, LADY BRIQUETTE with lineage to FERNEYN and BAMBY.
Nancy writes: "We are so happy to have this sweet new personality in the pasture / barn with the other three "horses" as she fits in perfectly!
LATTE has become GOLDIN's shadow. We have been grooming both mares each day, they come up to us nicely to get their carrot or apple slices. Boy, do they put on a nice show when we turn them loose again, running and tossing heads and turning, acting very independent for a few minutes.
Many, many thanks for all your encouragement in this adoption process! We are very pleased and can't stop showing everyone the new horse 'on the block' !! I don't think I have every been around a truly BLACK horse. LATTE's color is amazing and stunningly beautiful."

Liz loves MALAN. Liz said that MALAN is a Cadillac. Liz is extremely happy with MALAN, she says he is such a beautiful well mannered young black gelding. To say that Liz is pleased that she has purchased MALAN, is an extreme understatement!
